Escape from California

Following a week of gas prices that haven't been dropping we again have a whole new slew of articles with an "Oh the Humanity!" slant from the lazy news media. Funny editorial on the topic from the fair and balanced FOX news.

I for one am quite excited about getting out of California and seeing what the rest of the country pays for gasoline. You can see from this current map who the true red state is. We have the highest taxes on gas and everything else, yet the deepest in debt. LA currently has a 10% sales tax, that's why I try to do all my shopping online.

This map should really help us on the trip. For example if we're running low on gas in New Mexico, we will know to try and hold out until Texas, or at least buy just enough to get to the next tax haven.

For those who say that at least by living in LA we get the benefit of living in a hip forward-thinking progressive town, I have included this map below as well. As you can see LA County is the same color as most of Texas and the deep South. Happy Traveling!
